Our Founder, Father Kenneth Baker, S.J.

In 1989, Fr. Kenneth Baker, S.J., founded the predecessor to Saint Michael Broadcasting, Catholic Views Broadcasts, which previously operated two Catholic TV stations: Channel 19 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Channel 54 in Chicago, Illinois. In 2009, he transferred ownership of the Minneapolis station to St. Michael Broadcasting.

Fr. Baker studied theology at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, and then earned his Ph.D. in Theology at Marquette University in Wisconsin. He taught theology for seventeen years at Gonzaga University in Washington.

From 1971 to 2010 Fr. Baker was editor of the Homiletic & Pastoral Review, a monthly magazine for Catholic clergy. He is the author of Fundamentals of Catholicism, Inside the Bible, The Will of God: Finding and Fulfilling your Purpose in Life, The Mystery of Death and Beyond, Jesus Christ--- True God and True Man, Preach the Word: Homilies on the Sundays and Feasts of the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, and Doctrinal Sermons on the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

He has appeared on EWTN’s Mother Angelica Live and taped a thirteen-part series on the Bible for broadcast on EWTN.

About Us

St. Michael Broadcasting [formerly Catholic Views Broadcasts, Inc.], Channel 14 UHF TV, is the only FCC licensed Catholic television broadcast station in the state of Minnesota.  Our sole purpose is to serve as an evangelization tool for the Roman Catholic Church in order to be an influential, educational and moral voice in our society.

Channel 14 TV is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization and depends entirely on donations. A unique feature of the station is that it is operated and managed exclusively by volunteers. Since there are no paid staff members, 100% of all donations received go directly toward station operations. All donations are tax deductible.

Note: St. Michael Broadcasting and EWTN are not the same entity.  St. Michael Broadcasting rebroadcasts EWTN’s signal. We need the support of our viewers to continue, and to continue to improve, this service.

Viewer services:
